Which rules apply in Northern Ireland?

Retrofit funding in Northern Ireland is set by the Department for Communities and the Housing Executive's own programmes.

What does it cost in Northern Ireland?

Our guide range for whole-house retrofit towards EPC C in Northern Ireland is £12,150–£21,250 per home. That is the UK range of £13,500–£23,600 (published figure) adjusted by a regional cost factor of 0.90 (our own estimate); figures are before VAT where the source states it. Every job is priced after survey; specification, access and the condition of the homes will move the figure.

How do we deliver it?

Residents get a plain-English guide to their new heating and ventilation at handover. A heat pump that is run like a gas boiler will disappoint everyone.

Common questions

Which council areas in Northern Ireland do you cover for whole-house retrofit?

All 11: Antrim and Newtownabbey, Ards and North Down, Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon, Belfast, Causeway Coast and Glens, Derry City and Strabane, Fermanagh and Omagh, Lisburn and Castlereagh, Mid Ulster, Mid and East Antrim, Newry, Mourne and Down.

Do residents need to move out?

Rarely. Most measures are installed with residents at home. Where a measure is very disruptive, we discuss options with you in advance.

Why does ventilation matter in retrofit?

Insulating and sealing a home without improving ventilation can trap moisture and cause condensation and mould. PAS 2035 requires a ventilation assessment for that reason.
