Electrical remedial works and rewires for social landlords
Remedials from EICRs, consumer unit upgrades and full rewires in occupied social homes.
Electrical remedial works fix the defects recorded in an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR): urgent C1 and C2 items first, then further-investigation items. Rewires replace an installation at the end of its life. In England, Wales and Scotland, inspection at least every five years is now a legal requirement for social landlords, and in England remedial work must be completed within 28 days.

How do we approach electrical remedial works and rewires?
We carry out EICR remedials, consumer unit replacements and full rewires, certified to BS 7671 and notified under the Building Regulations where required. We can also arrange inspection, but most landlords keep testing and remedials separate, and we are happy to work either way.

Which rules shape electrical remedial works and rewires in each UK nation?
The legal duties sit with the landlord. These are the rules that set the timescales and standards we work to, as checked on 31 October 2026.

Questions
Electrical remedial works and rewires: common questions
How quickly must EICR remedials be done?
In England, social landlords must complete remedial or further investigation work within 28 days of the inspection, or sooner if the report says so, under the electrical safety regulations extended to the social rented sector in 2025–26. C1 items need immediate action everywhere. We work to the date you set and close each item with a certificate.
Is a consumer unit replacement notifiable?
In England and Wales, replacing a consumer unit is notifiable under Part P of the Building Regulations. We certify and notify it.
Can you rewire with the tenant in residence?
Yes. We confirm the duration for each home before starting and plan to restore power at the end of each day where possible.
Do you carry out the EICRs too?
We can arrange them, but many landlords keep inspection independent of remedial work. We are happy to work from another contractor's reports.
