Which rules apply in the South East?

In England, Disabled Facilities Grants of up to £30,000 can fund major adaptations, and minor adaptations costing £1,000 or less must be provided free under adult social care rules. Many housing associations fund adaptations for their own tenants.

What does it cost in the South East?

Our guide range for a level-access shower or wet room in the South East is £5,200–£7,150 per home. That is the UK range of £4,750–£6,500 (published figure) adjusted by a regional cost factor of 1.10 (VOA Rating Cost Guide 2026: 1.05–1.15); figures are before VAT where the source states it. Every job is priced after survey; specification, access and the condition of the homes will move the figure.

How do we deliver it?

We plan each adaptation around the resident's routines and needs, and keep them informed about every stage, because an adaptation is only a success if it works for the person living with it.
