Which rules apply in the North West?
Gas work done for payment must be carried out by a member of the Gas Safe Register (Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998). Landlords must have each gas appliance and flue checked at least every 12 months and give the record to the tenant within 28 days. We confirm the registration of the engineer for your job in writing before appointment.
What does it cost in the North West?
Our guide range for an air source heat pump in the North West is £10,100–£14,150 per home. That is the UK range of £10,000–£14,000 (published figure) adjusted by a regional cost factor of 1.01 (VOA Rating Cost Guide 2026: 1.01–1.02); figures are before VAT where the source states it. Every job is priced after survey; specification, access and the condition of the homes will move the figure.
How do we deliver it?
For heat pumps we insist on a heat loss calculation and emitter sizing. Undersized radiators are the most common reason residents say a heat pump does not work.
Common questions
Which council areas in the North West do you cover for heating upgrades and heat pumps?
All 35: Blackburn with Darwen, Blackpool, Bolton, Burnley, Bury, Cheshire East, Cheshire West and Chester, Chorley, Cumberland, Fylde, Halton, Hyndburn, Knowsley, Lancaster, Liverpool, Manchester, Oldham, Pendle, Preston, Ribble Valley, Rochdale, Rossendale, Salford, Sefton, South Ribble, St. Helens, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford, Warrington, West Lancashire, Westmorland and Furness, Wigan, Wirral, Wyre.
Will residents be left without heating?
We plan to avoid it. Where a home would be without heating for any period, temporary heaters can be provided where your specification allows.
Do heat pumps work in older social homes?
They can, provided the home's heat loss is reduced first and the emitters are sized properly. That is why heat pumps usually sit within a whole-house retrofit plan.
