Which rules apply in Scotland?
Social landlords are commercial clients under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015, so the full client duties apply. Where there is more than one contractor, the client appoints a principal designer and a principal contractor. A project must be notified to HSE if it lasts more than 30 working days with more than 20 workers on site at once, or exceeds 500 person-days.
What does it cost in Scotland?
We price brickwork, pointing and render repairs in Scotland after a survey rather than from a guide range, because the wall area, the mortar needed and access vary from building to building. Send us the details and we will arrange a visit.
How do we deliver it?
We match the repair to the wall. Lime mortar on soft older brick, compatible render systems and like-for-like bricks where they are visible.
Common questions
Which council areas in Scotland do you cover for brickwork, pointing and render repairs?
All 32: Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Angus, Argyll and Bute, Clackmannanshire, Dumfries and Galloway, Dundee, East Ayrshire, East Dunbartonshire, East Lothian, East Renfrewshire, Edinburgh, Falkirk, Fife, Glasgow, Highland, Inverclyde, Midlothian, Moray, North Ayrshire, North Lanarkshire, Orkney, Perth and Kinross, Renfrewshire, Scottish Borders, Shetland, South Ayrshire, South Lanarkshire, Stirling, West Dunbartonshire, West Lothian, Western Isles (Na h-Eileanan Siar).
Can you deal with structural cracking?
We carry out crack repairs to an engineer's design. If cracking suggests movement, we recommend an engineer before any work is priced.
Will repointing cure damp?
It can, where failed pointing is letting rain in. We check for other causes as well, such as gutters, ground levels and bridged damp-proof courses.
